Turmeric Replaces Drugs, Mumps Vaccine Update, Food Allergies,

Turmeric May Make Many Pharmaceutical Drugs Obsolete

(NaturalNews) You may have already heard about the many amazing healing properties of the spice turmeric, which is also sometimes referred to as curcumin. But did you know that literally thousands of published, peer-reviewed studies conducted and compiled over the years lend credence to the notion that turmeric works the same as, or even better than, at least 14 pharmaceutical drugs currently on the market?

It is true, and thanks to the diligent work of GreenMedInfo.com's Sayer Ji in compiling this valuable information, it is now available publicly for the benefit of your and your family's health. Many of the most commonly prevalent chronic illnesses, it turns out, can be prevented, treated, and even cured using turmeric, so you will want to pay attention. Here are seven drugs and classes of drugs that science shows can be effectively replaced with turmeric:

1) Statin drugs for cholesterol. Popular cholesterol drugs like Lipitor (atorvastatin calcium) and Crestor (rosuvastatin) are completely unnecessary when taking standardized doses of curcuminoids extracted from turmeric, according to a 2008 study published in the journal Drugs in R & D. Researchers found that in patients with endothelial dysfunction, the underlying blood vessel pathology that leads to atherosclerosis, turmeric extract worked at least as good as the drugs at reducing inflammation and relieving oxidative stress in type 2 diabetics.

2) Corticosteroid drugs. Millions of people receive steroid injections every year to treat the inflammation associated with conditions like arthritis and even cancer. But a 1999 study published in the journal Phytotherapy Research found that turmeric's primary antioxidant, curcumin, works just as well as steroid medications in the treatment of inflammatory eye disease. Several studies released in the years following found similar benefits for other inflammatory diseases commonly treated with steroids.

3) Antidepressants. Besides their copious side effects, antidepressant drugs like Prozac (fluoxetine) and Paxil (paroxetine) are extremely risky, as they can actually make depression symptoms worse for some people. But why even bother to use them when turmeric has been shown to effectively reduce depressive behavior the same or even better than these dangerous drugs?

4) Blood thinners. People at high risk of heart attack or stroke, or who require blood-thinning drugs to avoid these and other cardiovascular events, may be able to take turmeric instead. This suggestion is based on a 1986 study published in the journal Arzneimittelforschung, which found that curcumin has similar anti-platelet and prostacyclin modulating effects as aspirin, the blood-thinning drug of choice for many conventional doctors.

5) Anti-inflammatory drugs. Aspirin is also commonly prescribed for other inflammatory conditions, as is ibuprofen, naproxen sodium, and a number of other pain pills. But these may be unnecessary as turmeric was shown in a 2004 study published in the journal Oncogene to exert similar anti-inflammatory and anti-proliferative activity, particularly against cancer cells, as these drugs.

6) Chemotherapy drugs. The cancer industry would have us all believe that chemotherapy drugs are one of the few methods we have at our disposal to treat cancer. But a 2007 study published in the International Journal of Cancer found that curcumin works just as well as oxaliplatin (Eloxatin) at treating colorectal cancer.

7) Diabetes drugs. Not only is turmeric a viable contender in treating diabetes, a 2009 study published in the journal Biochemistry and Biophysical Research Community found that it works up to 100,000 times better than the popular diabetes drug Metformin at increasing glucose uptake. Turmeric also helps suppress glucose production in the liver at least as well as the most popular diabetes drugs on the market today.

Beyond this, turmeric is a powerful cancer-fighting herb as well, which Ji expounds upon further in his turmeric review. Be sure to check it out at:

My Comment: Be sure to use a turmeric supplement with Meriva phytosomes, which is much more effective than the standard turmeric supplement.

NEJM Study: 97 Percent of Children Affected by 2009 Mumps Outbreak Were Vaccinated

(NaturalNews) More evidence has emerged showing the failure of modern vaccines to provide effective protection against disease. A recent study published in The New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) reveals that an astounding 97 percent of children affected by a mumps outbreak that swept the Northeast back in 2009 had already been vaccinated for the condition in accordance with recommended government guidelines.

According to the study, 3,502 children of primarily Orthodox Jewish upbringing developed mumps between June 28, 2009, and June 27, 2010, as a result of an unusual "face-to-face" educational method used at certain all-boys Jewish schools throughout the New York and New Jersey areas. Among those affected by the outbreak, 97 percent were said to be Orthodox Jewish persons, and nearly one-third were between the ages of 13 and 17.

After confirming 1,648 cases of infection using clinical specimens, the research team that compiled the study determined that 89 percent of all those who contracted mumps as a result of the outbreak had already been vaccinated at least twice for mumps, presumably with the controversial measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) combination vaccine that has been implicated in causing gastrointestinal disorders and autism. Another eight percent of the group had reportedly received only one dose of the mumps vaccine.

When combined, these percentages translate into a 97 percent vaccination rate among all those affected by the mumps outbreak, leaving only three percent unconfirmed as having ever been vaccinated. What this means, of course, is that the MMR vaccine was essentially useless in conferring protection in this case, at least as far as mumps is concerned, and that parents would do well to think twice about administering this toxic vaccine to their children.

"The epidemiologic features of this outbreak suggest that intense exposures, particularly among boys in schools, facilitated transmission and overcame vaccine-induced protection in these patients," wrote the authors in their conclusion, basically admitting that the mumps vaccine provides no real protection against the disease.

MMR vaccine actually damages natural immunity, increases risk of disease contraction

But what exactly constitutes "intense exposure" anyway, and how is this really any different than common exposure? In an apparent effort to rationalize away the findings, some reports have suggested that because the group most affected was "boys in schools," this particular outbreak was somehow unusual and atypical, and not indicative of the effectiveness of vaccines on a larger scale. But in reality, the findings show quite the opposite -- that vaccines actually increase the risk of disease transmission.

Only a very small percentage of those affected by the outbreak, eight percent, had received one vaccination dose for mumps, while the vast majority of the rest had received at least two doses. This suggests that those who received two doses of MMR were actually more likely than those who received just one to contract the disease. Next to that, only a very small fraction of the remaining cases were unaccounted for, which suggests unvaccinated individuals actually had the highest levels of immune protection during the outbreak.

The takeaway from all this is that the "herd immunity" concept we are constantly told is necessary to prevent disease outbreaks is absolute bunk. If anything, vaccinated children are the ones most responsible for spreading disease during an outbreak, as the viral components delivered to their bodies through vaccines are shed onto primarily immunocompromised individuals, who just so happen to be other vaccinated individuals. There is simply no other way to validly interpret these and other similar findings in recent years, which only further prove that vaccines may be neither safe nor effective.

Chlorinated Water May Cause Food Allergies

Ever wonder why your tap water smells like a swimming pool? It's because it's treated the same way -- with chlorine.

You already know you shouldn't drink that pool water, but most people won't even think twice about drinking tap water when it reeks of the same chemical.

Well, it's time to think twice. Chlorine is toxic. It was once used as a chemical weapon and new research shows it could even be responsible for at least some of the rise in food allergies in recent years.

In one new study, researchers collected urine samples from 10,000 Americans and found that people with the highest levels of dichlorophenols were up to 80 percent more likely to have a food allergy than those with the lowest.

Dichlorophenols are basically chlorine. And most people aren't just getting dosed with it -- they're getting DOUBLE, TRIPLE, and QUADRUPLE dosed, even if they never dip a toe in the swimming pool.

Like I said, this stuff is injected into your drinking water in the name of safety. But it's also a common ingredient in pesticides and weed killers. You could get exposed on the golf course, in the park, or even when you bite into an apple or pear.

And let's not forget that many of the same chlorine-based pesticides and weedkillers sprayed on fields, farms, orchards, and golf courses seep through the ground and into the water supply.

But chlorine and other pesticide residues may actually be some of the better ingredients in U.S. drinking water, and that's not sarcasm. Our taps are flowing with everything from fluoride to fecal matter, and I'm not even sure which is worse.

Probably the fluoride, which I have discussed many times in this blog.

U.S. water also routinely tests positive for trace levels of legal and illegal drugs, hormones, chemical waste, rocket fuel, and more. And some of these nasty chemicals that have been found floating in your tap water have even been linked to Alzheimer's and cancer.

My comment:  One of the best ways to get 100 percent clean water is with a reverse osmosis water filter. They're available at your local hardware store – you might want to install it where the water supply enters your home so every faucet is protected.  There are also many good over and under countertop filters that will help filter out most of the contaminants from your drinking water.  One highly rated filter is made by Aquasana (http://www.aquasana.com/?&discountcode=wfcOV) and it is very affordable. They are even having a big sale right now if you are interested in getting one. You can also buy filters to remove the chlorine from your shower water to prevent having to breathe in the volatilized chlorine and prevent the hair and skin damage it can cause.

Until next time, stay healthy and happy
