Gardasil Update
The stories are heartbreaking.
Beautiful, active, healthy girls and young women becoming disabled, suffering seizures and paralysis. And dying in untold numbers.
Megan Hild is one of them.
As her mother stands where Megan's ashes were scattered, she tells about "a very healthy, active young lady," whose life was taken "without any warning."
Megan suddenly died soon after getting her last of three Gardasil shots. She was only 20, attending college and hoping to become a radiologist.
Her mother is urgently pleading for answers. She is "desperately begging" Obama to "investigate this vaccine."
But Megan's mom isn't likely to be getting any help from Obama. Because the government is working hard to sell more Gardasil, not investigating whether young women like Megan are dying from it.
And its newest scheme is one aimed at helping Merck and Glaxo hit a grand slam.
I've been warning you about these shots since Day One. And thanks to more and more parents like Megan's mom sharing their tragic stories, more moms and dads are learning about just how dangerous Gardasil and the other HPV vaccine, Cervarix, are. So sales have been dropping every year.
And that's good news for many young girls...and even boys, who are also being targeted. But when Big Pharma sees sales of a product going down, they call in the big guns.
Enter the President's Cancer Panel.
In what sounds like a script written by Merck to sell its Gardisil shots, the panel recently issued a lengthy "report" for the purpose of "accelerating HPV vaccine uptake."
It begins with a letter to Obama. It says that the panel "has exciting news to report to you" about how to "eliminate" certain types of cancers. It says that our children's future is at stake.
And that's the only part that's true. For if the panel gets its way, our children's future will be at stake. While this sales campaign -- one disguised as an official report -- goes on and on about ways to increase sales of Gardasil, it ignores some very important facts.
Like more than 31,000 reports of adverse reactions to these HPV vaccines. Or the reports of scores of deaths linked to these shots.
And wait 'til you hear this frightening fact.
A review article published in the Annals of Medicine about Gardasil and Cervarix states that among their many side effects are….."cervical cancers."
That's right, cervical cancers.
You don't find that mentioned in the President's Cancer Panel report.
You also don't find mentions of convulsions, paralysis, shock, blood clots, Guillain-Barre syndrome, autoimmune diseases...and death. All of which are documented side effects from these vaccines.
In fact, the report only mentions a grand total of two reactions, "fainting" and "skin infections." And it promises that the FDA and CDC will "continue to monitor the safety" of the vaccines and "follow up" on any "serious adverse events."
Really? What about the thousands of "serious events" that have already taken place. Who is following up with those families?
But the whole idea that Gardasil will prevent cancer in the first place, well, even that "has not been demonstrated." That's what Canadian researchers said after a study of all "the available evidence" on the vaccine.
What the President's Cancer Panel has outlined for Merck and Glaxo couldn't be more of a marketing plan if it came straight from Madison Avenue. It calls for online campaigns and "communication strategies" using web sites, blogs, text messaging and social media.
And it aims for all those plans to be designed so they "resonate emotionally with parents."
I think someone should tell that panel that when young women die after getting an unnecessary shot, it doesn't get much more emotional than that.

Caution With Candles
You know those scented candles that have been an overpriced craze for the past 10 years?
Well, when you learn how the scent can affect you, it will give you one more reason to ignore the lure of "Birthday Cake" or "Gardenia Garden."
A new study has identified certain chemicals -- including those in scented candles -- as "gerontogens." That means they can actually accelerate aging in people exposed to them.
Chemicals in this category include both benzene and toluene. These petroleum derivatives are among the substances released into the air whenever you burn candles made with paraffin or soy wax.
Besides speeding up the process of getting older, researchers say breathing in such vapors can increase your risk of getting cancer.
Experts also warn that toxic soot from scented candles can remain in your house for a considerable time and even accumulate inside your air filter.
They say if you must burn a candle, be sure it's made from 100 percent beeswax and has a cotton wick.
Or just open a window and let some fresh air in.

If you're like a lot of folks with a bit of gray around the temples those small steps you take down the stairs each day can send shivers up your spine.
That's because you know that one false move on those wobbly legs could send you leaping and tumbling your way to a broken neck or a life-threatening hip fracture.
Scientists at the University of Texas at Galveston say starting your day with a delicious omelet -- or my favorite, over-easy eggs with a side of bacon -- could have you taking those troublesome stairs two at a time in no time!
That's because they found that a tasty and steady diet of protein could be the like-magic cure for keeping your muscles steady and strong as you age.
Now, if you've been reading my For True Health newsletter for a while, this isn't exactly breaking news. I've been singing the praises of a high-protein, fat-rich diet for a long time. But if you think just grilling up that sirloin at dinnertime is enough to protect your heart, brain and muscles, it's time to think again.
Because researchers found that WHEN you get your protein is just as important as how much you eat. Scientists studied the eating habits of adults who were consuming about 90 grams of protein a day, mainly from beef (this was a Texas study, after all).
Turns out folks who distributed their protein evenly throughout the day -- about 30 grams at each meal -- were building muscles that keep their strength and prevent falling. When you load up on protein at every meal, your body is 25% better at distributing it to the muscles and organs that need it most... goodbye muscle loss.
Plus, a major study found that a high-fat diet can drop your risk of premature aging by a staggering 39%!
And trading that morning bagel for a poached egg isn't just good for your muscles -- it could be a matter of life and death. Keeping your muscles strong and nourished is the easiest way to prevent dangerous slips and falls, and 20% of folks who break their hips are dead within a year.
It's time to tune out the vegan, anti-fat nuts and think about making protein the staple of every meal you eat.
We know that acetaminophen is a very dangerous drug. It lands 78,000 people in
the ER every year and is the leading cause of liver failure in the U.S.
So we know that it's not "safe." But at least it's "effective," right?
Well...
One of the most common reasons your doctor might tell you to take acetaminophen is for lower back pain. And believe it or not, no one ever took the time to find out if it really works for that.
So when researchers in Australia set out to prove how great this drug works for back pain, they got some really surprising results.
"Our results -- based on over 1600 patients -- provide clear evidence that acetaminophen is ineffective for low back pain." That's how Dr. Christopher Williams summed up the results of his study.
Now acetaminophen -- Tylenol -- is what most doctors tell their patients to take for back pain.
But it's not like Dr. Williams and his team didn't try hard enough.
In the group assigned to take acetaminophen, they were told to take a daily dose of 3990 mg! That's unbelievable. Even the FDA says that the absolute maximum dose of this drug is 4000 mg a day.
And a daily dose that high is one experts say is pushing the envelope for needing a liver transplant. That is if you're lucky.
But even at that super-high dose, it was useless.
All three groups in this study, the ones who took the giant liver-damaging dose, the ones who took the drug only when needed, and the ones who took a placebo pill, had similar results. It took them all the same time to recover, and they all reported the same amount of pain.
So the researchers said that maybe 4000 mg a day of acetaminophen would have been more effective! You can see they were really hoping this study would turn out differently.
And that's because it was financed by GlaxoSmithKline.
Now Glaxo makes an acetaminophen drug overseas called Panadol, so you can be sure they didn't intend this study to get the kind of result it got!
And because the study was published in the prestigious journal Lancet, Glaxo wasted no time in chiming in. It said that the study shouldn't change acetaminophen's status as the "first line" treatment for back pain.
Right, Glaxo, even if it doesn't work!
And McNeil, the company that makes Tylenol, is just as unhappy. It said that doctors should "re-consider the study results," whatever that means.
Big Pharma is also getting its buddies together to write letters to the Lancet. One group, from a university in the Netherlands, said that no changes in recommending acetaminophen should be made because of this "high-quality trial" with "clear" findings.
They just don't give up now, do they?
But even the critics couldn't find fault with the study, or its results.
Of course, this study only adds to the reasons for avoiding drugs that contain acetaminophen. For years I've been warning you about the very real dangers it poses.
At best, taking acetaminophen is a risky proposition. And taking 4000 mg a day can be a deadly one.
Yet, because it's in so many different products, like headache, cold and pain remedies, it's not at all hard to exceed to that potentially lethal dose.
Even the FDA, which has been protecting this sacred cow for decades, finally said this year that prescription drugs with over 325 mg of acetaminophen "are no longer considered safe."
And now, we know that not only aren't they "safe" -- they're not even effective.
Until next time, stay healthy and happy
