HFCS Causes Liver Disease, Raw Milk Booming in Europe, Exercise Beats Medication, Bees Are Dying World Wide, Fake Honey

High Fructose Corn Syrup Causes Liver Disease

If your liver could talk, it would say…"You are what you drink." What your liver is talking about is fatty liver disease.

FLD is caused by excessive and prolonged consumption of alcohol. Over time, heavy alcohol intake causes fat accumulation in the liver, which prompts inflammation and liver scar tissue.

Eventually, FLD can escalate into dangerous chronic conditions, including type 2 diabetes, liver cancer, and heart disease. But notice that your liver only mentioned "drink" -- not alcohol.

That's because there's another beverage that can contribute in a big way to FLD. But when alcohol isn't part of the picture, the condition is known as nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).

Nearly one in every four Americans has NAFLD, and because there are no symptoms, hundreds of thousands -- perhaps millions -- don't even know it.

A daily attack on your liver

University of California researchers recently revealed a frightening connection between high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) and NAFLD -- frightening because indications of NAFLD development began so quickly.

After just two weeks (TWO weeks!), subjects who consumed either fructose or HFCS as 25% of their daily caloric intake (which, according to the USDA, a LOT of Americans do) showed significant blood level spikes of LDL cholesterol and triglycerides.

This is a potential disaster in the making. And even though we've been brainwashed to worry about LDL, this time it's all about the triglycerides.

In NAFLD, triglyceride is the dangerous fat that accumulates in the livers of people who drink little or no alcohol. The resulting inflammation, scarring, and destruction of liver cells is basically the same thing that happens in people who drink alcohol to excess.

Last year I told you about a study where dietary information was gathered from 400 subjects with NAFLD. Results showed that more than 80 percent of the subjects drank HFCS-sweetened beverages, and nearly 30 percent said they did so every day.

Liver scarring was most pronounced in those with the highest HFCS intake.

If you find yourself craving a daily soda or two, or some other treat that's sweetened with HFCS, don't fool yourself into thinking that a little bit won't do any harm. Even small amounts of this Franken-sugar can lead to serious damage -- and very quickly.

Raw milk vending machines growing in popularity across Europe

(NaturalNews) While American health authorities continue to peddle unfounded superstition about the so-called dangers of raw milk, which has spawned authoritarian policies that prevent millions of Americans from freely accessing it, unpasteurized dairy is all the rage throughout Europe. And one Polish manufacturer of raw milk vending machines explained to The Bovine in a recent interview that the installation of such machines is rapidly spreading both in Poland and across Europe.

They are something you will not find in the US -- at least not yet -- but that are set to expand from 150 machines to 1,000 or more in the coming years, just in the country of Poland, according to Konrad Pszowski, owner of MILKMAT SC, a popular manufacturer of high-quality raw milk vending machines. Such machines are a great way for local farmers to distribute fresh milk to customers in large cities or other areas far away from dairies.

"I think that in European countries there is big knowledge about raw milk," Pszowski is quoted as saying to The Bovine. "People know what products they can make out of this milk. They know how to produce house cheese, sour milk, butter ... In my opinion interest in it will grow all over the world. Especially that we are more aware of what we eat."

You can read Pszowski's full interview with The Bovine here:
http://thebovine.wordpress.com/2012/01/26/raw-milk-in-poland-interview-with-a-polish-raw-milk-vending-machine-maker/

No matter how they choose to use it, Europeans are free to decide for themselves whether or not to consume raw milk and raw milk dairy products, and raw milk vending machines just make it easier and more convenient for them to do so. And because the milk is routinely inspected for quality and proper sanitation, it is safe for human consumption.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), on the other hand, is stuck in the stone ages of bad science on the raw milk issue. The agency has decided that raw milk is inherently dangerous, despite myriad evidence to the contrary, and has done everything it possibly can with taxpayers' money to restrict access to it, including raiding small dairies and confiscating product from buyers' clubs (http://www.naturalnews.com/033280_FDA_raids_timeline.html).

But what is happening in Poland and throughout Europe with raw milk and the widespread installation of raw milk vending machines proves that American regulators and health authorities are willfully ignorant of the facts about raw milk, and have forcefully extended their ignorance onto the public with tyrannical laws against its sale and distribution.

Exercises Beat Meds For Pain Relief

Neck pain? You're not alone -- it's quickly becoming a top complaint as more people spend their entire lives sitting at a desk, craning their necks at glowing screens.

Your own doc is clueless when it comes to treating neck pain, and if you try mentioning something that actually works -- like chiropractic care -- he'll laugh you right out of his office.

Turns out the joke's on him -- because the latest research confirms that either hands-on care from a chiropractor or regular neck exercises done on your own at home bring more relief than what he's got in his pocket.

That's a prescription pad, by the way -- and your doc will use it twice the first time you even mention neck pain: once to write a referral for a scan that will reveal absolutely nothing beyond how good your insurance is… and another for painkillers, including addictive meds with potentially deadly side effects.

"Just say no" to those drugs -- because after 12 weeks, just 13 percent of patients who took meds in the new study reported 100 percent relief.

That's practically nobody.

Meanwhile, a full third of those who got chiropractic care reported 100 percent relief, along with 30 percent of those who did the neck-cercises.

The partial response was better all around, with 82 percent of the chiropractic patients reporting at least a 50-percent improvement, compared to 77 percent of the neck-cercisers and 69 percent of those who took painkillers.

But let's face it: No one wants partial relief. You want to be cured -- and the number of people truly cured of neck pain is low no matter what they try. And that's because most people might try "everything," but when they're done, they go back to the same bad habits that caused their neck problems in the first place.

Wide Spread Bee Die-off Spreading World Wide

An article by Dr. Mercola

Bees have been dying off around the world for more than a decade now, a phenomenon that has been named "Colony Collapse Disorder," or CCD. The U.S. and the U.K. both reported losing a third of their honeybees in 2010. Italy lost half. The die-offs have spread to China and India, in addition to many other countries.

A third of the U.S. food supply requires the assistance of the honeybee. The collapse of bee colonies is probably multifactorial, rather than a response to one type of toxic assault.

Although experts don't yet understand all of the underlying factors and how they interact to cause our pollinators to disappear, they agree about one thing: if we allow this to continue, our already-limited global food supply is at risk, which means more than 7 billion humans occupying this planet are at risk as well.

The common honeybee pollinates 130 different crops in the U.S. alone, including fruits, vegetables and tree nuts. Without our bees, almonds, pumpkins, watermelons and other varieties of melon, and even vanilla, could completely disappear.

Haagen-Dazs donated $250,000 to research into bee colony collapse disorder because it says the honeybees are responsible for 24 of its 60 ice cream flavors, including strawberry, toasted pecan and banana split.

As usual, at the core of the problem is big industry, which is blinded by greed and enabled by a corrupt governmental system that permits the profit-driven sacrifice of our environment. Unfortunately, this motivation reflects an extreme shortsightedness about the long-term survival of the human race, as well as of our planet. Not only are commercial agricultural practices harming honeybee colonies, but your own health is being compromised by deceptive marketing practices about the "honey" you buy, some of which isn't really honey at all, despite what it says on the label.

Honey: Nectar of the Gods

Pure, natural, unfiltered raw honey has an abundance of medicinal and nutritional uses, including the following:

A special kind of honey that has healing benefits far exceeding that of ordinary honey is called Manuka honey. Manuka honey is made by bees that feed off the flowers of the Manuka bush, a medicinal plant native to New Zealand.

Fake honey is unfortunately common in this era of food manipulation and control. Some Chinese brokers sell a mixture of sugar water, malt sweeteners, corn or rice syrup, jaggery, barley malt sweetener or other additives, and label it "honey". A recent report by Food Safety News reveals just how often they get away with this trickery.

Is Your Honey Fake?

In a new report by Food Safety News, more than 75 percent of the honey on American supermarket shelves may be ultra-processed—to the point that all inherent medicinal properties are completely gone—and then smuggled into the country by the barrel drum. Nearly all of this fake honey is made in China. Some of these brokers will even create bogus country of origin papers. All 60 jars of "honey" tested by FSN came back negative for pollen (including Sue Bee and Winnie the Pooh brands), which is a clear sign of ultra-processing.

According to FSN:

"The removal of these microscopic particles from deep within a flower would make the nectar flunk the quality standards set by most of the world's food safety agencies. The food safety divisions of the World Health Organization, the European Commission and dozens of others have also ruled that without pollen, there is no way to determine whether the honey came from legitimate and safe sources."

Millions of pounds of honey that have been banned by the European Union are being smuggled into the U.S. from China. Much of this honey is tainted with illegal antibiotics, including chloramphenicol, which can cause DNA damage and cancer, and heavy metals like lead. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) states that any product that's been ultra-filtered and no longer contains pollen IS NOT honey.

In their investigation, FSN discovered the following:

·        76 percent of honey samples bought at grocery stores (such as TOP Food, Safeway, QFC, Kroger, Harris Teeter, etc.) were absent of pollen

·        77 percent of the honey from big box stores (like Costco, Sam's Club, Walmart, and Target) were absent of pollen

·        100 percent of the honey sampled from drug stores (like Walgreens, Rite-Aid, and CVS Pharmacy) were absent of pollen

The good news is, all of the samples from farmers markets, co-ops, and natural stores like Trader Joe's had the full, proper compliment of pollen, as did organic brands from common grocery stores.  But fake honey—the sorry substitute that it is—might be the ONLY thing even remotely resembling honey that you'll be able to get if we don't find a way to save our honeybees from total global collapse.

My Comment:

All products sold by Trader Joes with the Trader Joes brand are guaranteed to be free of any GMO’s, artificial flavors and artificial sweeteners. So if you want to ensure that the foods you eat or provide for your family are healthy and GMO free, buying Trader Joe's products is an easy way to do that. And the prices are much better than the health food stores like Whole Foods or PCC.

Manuka honey is excellent for treating cuts and killing bacteria along with all of its nutritional qualities. But it can be hard to find. I have seen it recently at the local Trader Joe's store so you might check at your local Trader Joe's and see if they are carrying it. No matter what kind of honey you buy, make sure it is real honey with the natural pollen still in it. Eating local honey is a good way to naturally reduce your allergies by exposing your body to the local pollens.

Until next time, stay healthy and happy
