THE GREATEST MEDICINE OF ALL… IS TEACHING PEOPLE HOW NOT TO
NEED IT
Blood Pressure Guidelines
Written by Melissa Young at Health Science Institute
Why, you've become a literal ticking time-bomb for a stroke!
But here's the crazy part... your numbers didn't change one bit. What did, however, is what's considered to be hypertension.
A joint recommendation from the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology warned that if you don't get those readings down to the basement, you're in big danger!
But as we told you back then, taking that advice to heart puts you in the crosshairs for some major heath disasters, such as suffering a stroke or losing your memory to Alzheimer's disease.
Now, a group of prominent researchers at Kaiser Permanente is warning that by attempting to reach those AHA and ACC goals, you're doubling your risk of taking a serious fall.
If your doctor has you on one, two, or even three BP drugs, it's time to find out if your blood pressure really is high in the first place.
The Kaiser Permanente group found that if you're taking BP meds and your systolic (or top) number drops to 110 or lower, you're 50 percent more likely to take a fall... or even lose consciousness!
This latest study crunched the data for over 475,000 Kaiser patients who were taking hypertension drugs. Of that large group, almost 30 percent went below that 110 cutoff that upped their risk of taking a tumble -- and some even stayed that low for over a year.
But even patients with a one-time episode of that reading were twice as likely to take a bad fall.
And as anyone over a certain age knows, a serious fall can destroy your life as you know it... even take away your independence.
But let's take a step back to 2014, when some of the most respected heart docs --including Suzanne Oparil, former president of the American Heart Association, no less -- published official "evidence-based guidelines" in JAMA that clearly stated:
If you're 60 or older, there's no need to even think about drugs unless your BP readings are consistently 150/90 or higher. If you're under 60, the cutoff point is 140/90. And that's also the case for those with diabetes and kidney disease.
And while that panel of experts said that lower readings are
better for your health, they also said that "aggressive blood pressure
treatment" with drugs to reach that goal has potentially dangerous
consequences.
So, why the big change in what's considered to be hypertension?
The best I can tell you is that Big Pharma's influence is more extensive than you would ever believe.
If a change is made in some recommendation that involves prescribing more meds, you can bet that drugmakers are probably involved in some way or another!
The bottom line is that there's more to know than a quickie BP measurement can reveal at your next doctor's appointment. To get an accurate picture of where you really are, you need to begin taking your blood pressure at home at different times of the day.
Home monitoring is especially useful since "white coat syndrome" (when your BP goes up just because you're in the doctor's office) is a proven fact! Also, some recent research has found that simply asking your doc or nurse for a second reading will also lower your numbers, as will sitting up straight with your feet flat on the floor, not talking... and NOT crossing your legs while your pressure is being taken!
And if you're being pushed to start up on one or more of these meds, it's time to get another opinion before you put your health, mobility, and life at risk.
A delicious Way to Clear Your Arteries
Nothing upsets me more than when the mainstream "experts" try to bully us away from the things we love.
They've convinced everyone to ditch REAL cheddar, Swiss, and mozzarella… and switch to the wet-cardboard low-fat substitutes.
Well, new research shows how those hacks have low-fat processed "cheese product" where their brains should be.
It PROVES once and for all that REAL cheese absolutely WON'T clog your arteries.
Just the opposite.
It can actually CUT your cholesterol and PROTECT you from the gummed-up pipes that can lead to heart attack and stroke!
This wasn't just some far-out laboratory experiment where cheese was shoved through fake arteries in a dish. It was a real-world test where 164 living, breathing (and overweight) human beings were given one of four diet options.
Some got REAL cheese and LOTS of it: They ate more than a quarter of a pound of delicious full-fat Irish cheddar every day.
A second group got nasty low-fat cheese and butter, while a third group had powders and supplements to mimic the nutrition inside cheese (but not the actual cheese).
A fourth set of folks got no cheese of any kind.
Who won?
If you guessed the full-fat cheese eaters, you win the cheddar. They didn't gain any weight at all over six weeks… and they didn't see higher levels of cholesterol, either.
Just the opposite: They saw both LDL and total cholesterol levels drop. And they had the biggest improvements of anyone… in any group… including the folks who had zero cheese.
It's as if the cheese swept through the arteries and cleared them right out!
The reason? Dairy magic!
Actually, it's more like the "milk fat globule membrane magic," but that's not quite as catchy. The MGM, as it's called, is a little wrapper that packages up dairy fats just perfectly for your body. It's found in full-fat milks and cheeses… but not in low-fat cheese, butter, or cheesy protein powders.
And clearly, it HELPS.
This shouldn't come as a big shocker. The first evidence of cheese goes back 7,500 years. For the following 7,450 years, it was considered both delicious and healthy.
And we're supposed to believe that it somehow became UNHEALTHY over the past half century?
FAT CHANCE!
It's not just cheese, either. Mainstream advice on saturated fats has been flat-out wrong for decades, making no distinction between the junky fats in processed foods and the essential fats in real, whole foods like milk, meat, and cheese.
Get back to basics and enjoy the real deal. As the new study shows so clearly, you'll be better for it.
Aspirin for Heart Health?
If you might be having a heart attack, chew an aspirin tablet. That's the standard advice, and it makes sense.
But what about the flipside? Should you also take a low dose every day to prevent a heart attack?
Well, that's another story entirely! At one time, your doc may have recommended it to you. Or maybe you started taking a daily "baby" aspirin on your own.
After all, it's dirt cheap and found just about everywhere! Aspirin, however, is not the benign medication that you may think it is. And that's especially true for seniors.
If you want to protect your heart, there are plenty of other ways to do so, including one antioxidant that's a hero to your heart.
But try to convince aspirin's top maker of that!
In a last-ditch attempt to prove that aspirin is still the king of preventing heart disease, Bayer funded a lengthy trial that just wrapped up.
And what this study found (or didn't find) should be enough to dethrone aspirin once and for all.
This trial, which went on for over a decade, couldn't come up with one reason to take a daily aspirin to prevent a first-time heart attack.
When you design and pay for your own study and still can't find any heart benefits, it's time to throw in the towel!
In the words of one expert, any gains of taking aspirin preventatively would be so small that it's time to "move on to [study] something more useful."
But it seems that the mainstream really can't move on. It's stuck like glue on finding as many reasons as possible to keep you popping aspirin.
Along with preventing a heart attack, it's told us that it can prevent cancer and even Alzheimer's!
But when you put those claims under a microscope, it's clear that the risks that come along with a daily aspirin -- even the 81 mg dose -- far exceed any benefits you'll get.
Coincidentally, another aspirin study was just released, this one funded by independent researchers involving close to 20,000 healthy seniors in the US. and Australia. And the results show that not only will aspirin do nothing to prolong your life, but those taking the drug appeared more likely to die, mostly from cancer!
Then, of course, there's the risk of suffering a major GI bleed, something that increases the older you are. By the time you hit 75, that danger is 10 times higher.
If you're going to take something daily, make it a CoQ10 supplement.
CoQ10 is an antioxidant that's been proven to help heart muscle cells generate more energy and use oxygen more efficiently.
Your heart will also appreciate a diet that includes plenty of magnesium-rich foods and good fats, such as from avocados, almonds, cashews, and fish like salmon.
Think Twice Before Taking Statins
Maybe you're taking a statin drug right now...
Millions in the U.S. are already stuck on statins, Pharma Land's prize cash-cow drugs.
But if you're one of them... or your doctor is on your back about starting up on one... the benefit of lowering your cholesterol is nothing compared to the toll it can take on your brain.
You may not have heard this from the mainstream media, but the truth is that taking statins could lead you right to a Parkinson's diagnosis!
And the latest research has found that of patients not taking statins, those with the highest cholesterol numbers seemed to have a protective shield against Parkinson's.
I'll get to that in a moment, but first -- a little background on the connection between cholesterol, statins, and Parkinson's.
Three years ago, doctors in the UK found close to a double risk of developing Parkinson's if you take a statin. And that research took two decades and involved nearly 16,000 people.
Last year, researchers at Penn State College of Medicine confirmed a link between statins and an increased risk of Parkinson's that they first uncovered back in 2016.
And all of these findings were stifled by the mainstream media!
Now, researchers in Israel just let the cat out of the bag. And once again, they proved that cholesterol is your brain's best friend!
Using a large data pool of over 260,000 people who didn't take these drugs, they found that the higher your cholesterol, the lower your risk for Parkinson's disease -- especially if you're a guy.
Now, under normal circumstances this would be a bombshell finding. But this big news fizzled out faster than a wet match and was only covered in two niche publications.
That truth is that this connection is basic brain chemistry. Cholesterol serves a vital function in your body and protects you from a host of neurological conditions.
But what about the "risk" of allowing your cholesterol to be "too high?" Isn't that putting your heart in danger?
The answer to is NO and NO!
Research going back to the 1960s found that blood cholesterol levels "have little influence" on arterial plaque.
And as HSI panel member Dr. Allan Spreen has said, "this cholesterol charade -- especially the focus on the "bad" LDL kind -- is an "overblown risk factor cooked up to make money by selling drugs."
So, to protect your brain, work with your doc to find a way off the statins
And if your cholesterol is truly dangerously high, you can bring your numbers down without drugs by taking these four steps:
- Avoid ALL partially hydrogenated oils,
- Add plenty of good fats, such as olive and coconut oil, to your diet,
- Cut down on simple carbs, and
- Get some exercise every day. A daily walk is perfect!
Not only will you be giving your heart a boost, but your
brain will appreciate it as well!
Until next time, stay healthy and happy
