Amazing Benefits of Fish Oil, - Bad News for ED Drugs, - Simple Vitamin Heals Heart Damage

THE GREATEST MEDICINE OF ALL… IS TEACHING PEOPLE HOW NOT TO NEED IT

6 Amazing Benefits from Taking Omega-3 Fish Oil Supplements - According To Scientists

Individuals looking to consume more healthy fatty acids via food should eat more oily fish, flax seeds, chia seeds, walnuts, and related oils.

Fish oil dietary supplements are booming in popularity among people looking to enjoy a variety of health benefits without actually eating fish multiple times per day. That’s because omega-3 fatty acids represent vital roles in the body’s function.

Omega-3 fatty acid supplements typically come in three forms: Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). Individuals looking to consume more healthy fatty acids via food should eat more oily fish, flax seeds, chia seeds, walnuts, and related oils. Some foods like eggs and milk are often fortified with the three types of omega-3 fatty acids.

The pilot study examined the feasibility and acceptability of a 12-week behavioral program for weight loss and improved cardiovascular health. It was designed to be used with Somali and Hispanic immigrants living in Southeast Minnesota. The peer-led intervention was delivered by community-based "health promoters."

Despite the challenges of the pandemic, the study retained 100% of its participants. They rated the intervention highly, as they lost weight, lowered their blood pressure and improved health behaviors. The researchers are part of the Rochester Healthy Community Partnership, a community-academic research program in Rochester that was formed in 2004.

So why do so many health experts recommend adding more fish oil to your diet? Here are six benefits gathered from actual studies showing the real value of omega-3s.

Omega-3 supplements could add 5 years to your life!

Add oily fish to the dinner menu tonight, especially if you want to live longer. Research finds that higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids in the blood contributes to a lifespan about five years longer than the norm. The exciting finding comes from scientists at the Hospital del Mar Medical Research Institute in Spain and The Fatty Acid Research Institute in the United States.

Just a one-percent increase in omega-3 levels reduces a person’s risk of death as much as quitting smoking, scientists claim. Their study shows measuring these levels in the blood can be an extremely effective tool for calculating life expectancy.

“Having higher levels of these acids in the blood, as a result of regularly including oily fish in the diet, increases life expectancy by almost five years,” says study author Dr. Aleix Sala-Vila.

Lowers risk of heart attack, cardiovascular disease

Harvard University conducted an analysis on the subject of omega-3 fish oil supplements and found an association between daily ingestion and a reduced risk of heart attack and most cardiovascular diseases.

Their research included data from over 120,000 adults across 13 randomized trials worldwide, including three recent large-scale trials. They found that people who received a daily omega-3 fish oil supplement had an 8% lower risk of heart attack, death from coronary heart disease.

Researcher suggest that omega-3 dosages above the typical amount (840 mg/day) used in most randomized clinical trials may provide even greater reductions in cardiovascular risk.

Fish oil may be an effective treatment for depression

Stem cell technology provides scientists with a research tool of seemingly limitless capacity. Using “depressed” human stem cells, scientists in Chicago find that fish oil can be added as an “antidepressant.”

Their study took skin cells from two types of depressed patients: those who previously responded to antidepressants, and those who didn’t. It shows that fish oil produces an antidepressant effect in stem cells taken from adults who have been clinically diagnosed as depressed.

Results of the study also show that a stem cell model can be used to study response to treatment and that fish oil as a treatment, or companion to treatment, for depression warrants further investigation.

Omega-3 fatty acids stabilize memory in patients with Alzheimer’s

A study reveals that Alzheimer’s disease patients taking daily omega-3 supplements saw their performance in memory tests remain steady in comparison to other patients not consuming the nutrient.

Researchers examined 33 people with mild to moderate symptoms of Alzheimer’s. From that group, 18 took omega-3 supplements in the morning and evening while the other 15 did not. Spinal fluid samples were taken from participants, which can contain biomarkers of the disease. Study authors also gave a memory test at the start of the study and six months later. Although the fluid samples didn’t show a significant change, the group’s performance in memory tests was clearly visible.

Results show that memory function of the patients in the group that had taken omega-3 remained strong, whereas the patients in the control group deteriorated in the same amount of time.

May help lower breast cancer risk

Fish oil supplements appear to alter the breast microbiome and reduce cancer risk. That conclusion comes from researchers with the Wake Forest School of Medicine.

Their study involved human breast cancer patients in a double-blind placebo-controlled clinical trial. Patients consumed either a placebo or fish oil supplements for two to four weeks before undergoing a lumpectomy or mastectomy.

The results reveal that adding fish oil to a patient’s diet changes the microbiome in both non-cancerous and malignant breast tissue. Researchers say that those taking the supplements for four weeks had more Lactobacillus — a type of bacteria scientists say can decrease breast cancer tumor growth — in the normal tissue surrounding a tumor. The team also found fewer Bacteroidales and Ruminococcus microbes in the group’s breast tumors. The significance of this change, however, is still unclear.

Omega-3 fatty acids can improve attention in children, compared to ADHD drugs

An international study finds that omega-3 fish oils can actually treat ADHD symptoms in certain children and improve attention just as much, or more, than many leading medications.

For the study, 92 children diagnosed with ADHD between the ages of 6-18 were separated into two groups. The first group received high doses of the omega-3 fatty acid EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) for 12 weeks, while the other group was given a placebo for the same amount of time. Results show that the children in the experimental group who already had low levels of EPA in their blood improved significantly in focused attention and vigilance scores.

It suggests that fish oil supplements are at least as effective for attention as conventional pharmacological treatments among those children with ADHD who have omega-3 deficiency. However, parents should always consult with their children’s psychiatrists since the study suggests there could be negative effects for some children.

The omega-3 supplements only worked in children who had lower levels of EPA in their blood. For those children with omega-3 deficiency, fish oil supplements could be a preferable option to standard stimulant treatments.

Before making any change to your diet or lifestyle routines, you should always consult with your doctor first. There are also numerous companies selling omega-3 fish oil supplements. It’s important to do the research and know who you’re purchasing dietary supplements from, where they’re made, and their overall quality before buying.

More bad news about ED drugs

Written by Marc S. Micozzi, M.D., Ph.D.

Big pharma relentlessly pushes bad drugs for the quasi-medical condition of erectile dysfunction (ED). But these drugs clearly increase the risk of heart disease and prostate cancer. Plus, a new German study shows these drugs increase the risk of recurrent prostate cancer.

As I’ve said before, most prostate cancers that occur in older men never invade or metastasize. And they rarely kill these older men. In fact, we shouldn’t really call them “cancer” at all. But make no mistake. The recurrent prostate cancer associated with ED drugs can invade and metastasize. Plus, it can and does kill.

For this new study, researchers reviewed 4,752 cases of men who had undergone radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer between 2000 and 2010. Doctors treated 23.4 percent of the men following surgery with ED drugs, including Viagra, Levitra, and Cialis.

Over the following five years, 89 percent of the men treated with these ED drugs developed a recurrence of prostate cancer. By comparison, only 85 percent of the men not treated with the drugs had a recurrence.

In their report, the researchers said these drugs “adversely impact” recurrence risk.  But this finding actually “astonished” them. They said they believed the ED drugs would somehow protect against recurrent prostate cancer. They also said they intend to keep giving these drugs to prostate cancer victims anyway.

Another victory for medical theory over facts!

In another recent study, researchers linked Viagra with an 84 percent increased risk of developing malignant melanoma skin cancer.

For this study, researchers used data on 25,000 men who were part of the Health Professional’s Follow-up Study (HPFS), probably the best and largest cohort study available to detect long-term health effects.

Like prostate cancer, skin cancer rarely turns deadly. In fact, more than 90 percent of skin cancers are minimally risky growths that almost never invade or metastasize. Doctors can easily remove these superficial growths in the office. And here again, we probably shouldn’t even call these skin growths “cancer.”

But melanoma is the form of skin cancer that does invade and metastasize. And it does kill victims. And the new study shows men who take Viagra run an 84 percent higher risk of developing it.

So here, we have two solid scientific studies that link ED drugs to the deadliest forms of prostate cancer and skin cancer.

Yet big pharma defends these bad drugs, like a Philadelphia lawyer, by trying to create “controversies” over scientific findings. So it’s likely we will hear about some silly flaw or problem with these studies in the coming months.

Fortunately, you have many options to improve your stamina without resorting to a harmful, even deadly drug.

In lab and clinical trials, researchers found a combination of dandelion and South African rooibos can improve physical performance and stamina. The combination of 400 mg dandelion and 400 mg South African rooibos appears to work well for this purpose. Plus, it supports cellular hydration, lowers blood sugar, and reduces fat cell accumulation.

Simple Vitamin Shown to Heal Heart Damage

By Marc S. Micozzi, M.D., Ph.D.

A new study published in the International Journal of Nanomedicine found that a simple vitamin could help reverse damage to the cardiovascular system caused by common chronic diseases like hypertension and Type II diabetes.

I prefer to get my facts straight from these kinds of obscure scientific studies because the “fake” news published by most “mainstream” outlets only scratches the surface. Nor do these outlets tell the whole story -- or even present the facts accurately. (And they try to pass it off as “journalism!”) Furthermore, the mainstream often promotes a politically correct agenda, regardless of the facts or real science.

This leaves most patients in the dark about effective alternative approaches for preventing and reversing chronic diseases. Of course, some diligent health seekers, like you, dear reader, aren’t deterred. They research their own alternatives.

And the new study, as I mentioned, focuses on one simple, effective step you can take to safeguard -- or even reverse damage to -- your cardiovascular health… so that’s huge news.

Vitamin D improves blood flow to the heart

Nitroglycerin has been used for the past 150 years as a common treatment to stop angina pectoris (insufficient blood flow to the heart muscle). It works on the endothelial cells that line the interior of blood vessels and the heart. Ultimately, the drug helps expand the coronary blood vessels supplying the heart to improve blood flow.

The new study shows that vitamin D does the same thing -- on a microscopic level -- to help keep blood flow supplied to the heart. Plus, you can take vitamin D preventatively -- without first suffering angina pectoris or a heart attack!

For the new study, researchers used nanosensors (which were 1,000 times smaller than a human hair) to track how vitamin D affects individual endothelial cells that line blood vessels and the heart.

They found the vitamin stimulated production of nitric oxide (NO), a chemical naturally produced in the body that regulates blood flow and prevents blood clots. Vitamin D also significantly reduced levels of oxidative stress in the cardiovascular system.

The new study’s lead researcher, Dr. Tadeusz Malinski, of the Ohio State University, acknowledged most people don’t realize how important vitamin D really is to cardiovascular health.

He said in an interview, “Generally, vitamin D3 is associated with the bones. However, in recent years, in clinical settings, people recognize that many patients who have a heart attack will have a deficiency of vitamin D3…it increased the risk of a heart attack.”

Our self-healing hearts

The new research found that treatment with vitamin D does much more than just prevent the cellular damage that leads to cardiovascular disease. It actually reverses damage to the cardiovascular system, often caused by several diseases, including high blood pressure, atherosclerosis, and Type II diabetes.

Dr. Malinski said, “There are not many, if any, known systems which can be used to restore cardiovascular endothelial cells which are already damaged, and vitamin D3 can do it.”

He also added, “This is a very inexpensive solution to repair the cardiovascular system. We don’t have to develop a new drug. We already have it.”

Of course, the good doctor is talking here about mainstream medicine’s failure to reverse heart disease…and the larger truth that the heart can heal itself.

Vitamin D does it all

Some doctors still marvel that vitamin D plays such an important role in the body beyond just supporting bone health.

But the evidence has been there for decades.

In fact, I’ll never forget presenting the keynote address at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine’s Annual Continuing Medical Education seminar on complementary/alternative and natural medicine in 2006.

Dr. Michael Holick of Boston University presented his lifetime of work on all of vitamin D’s activities, following my address. He reported on the critical importance of vitamin D to more than 400 gene functions.

For example, one recent study found that 10,000 IU daily of vitamin D reduced the number of inflammatory T-cells associated with multiple sclerosis. (The reduction in chronic inflammation probably plays an important role in the observed benefits in the new study for heart disease as well.)

This finding makes sense, as we’ve known for decades that men and women who live at higher latitudes (further from the equator and the sun’s strongest rays, which make vitamin D) run a much higher risk of developing this disease.

On the other hand, people who live closer to the equator get more sun during more of the year, which provides active vitamin D. But mainstream medicine overlooked this obvious connection for decades. Instead, they chased every other crazy theory they could imagine, as I will continue to expose in this research letter. Other research shows vitamin D also greatly benefits vision health.

Bottom line?

Take 250 mcg (10,000 IU) of vitamin D every single day. Especially during Fall and Winter.

My Comment:

Stop being afraid of the sun. Several studies have shown that sunshine does not cause skin cancer and the benefits far outweigh any risks. Stop listening to the mainstream medical who advise avoiding the sun at all costs and using sunscreen every time you go out. Get at least 15 minutes of direct sun over as much of your body as possible, and only use sunscreen for specific occasions where you will be exposed for long periods of time. Start out with shorter exposer and slowly graduate to being able to be exposed for longer periods of time as your skin starts to tan. If you must use sunscreen, apply it after being exposed for 15-30 minutes so you can benefit from the suns rays before you start using sunblock.

Until next time, stay healthy and happy
